7 Simple Morning Habits for Optimal Hormonal Balance and a Revved-Up Metabolism

Becoming a mother has been the greatest gift of all in my life, of course it comes with its challenges…but it’s super rewarding! It’s made me come to terms with the fact that I NEED to have a sacred space carved out for me, myself, and I to maintain my sanity and have the ability to pour into my family because I’m in overflow!

This sacred space was the discovery of a morning routine. I had been on a hormonal roller coaster after having my first due to a traumatic birth experience and decided I would start tuning into growth mindset podcasts. What I noticed about sooo many of these gurus and multimillionaires was that they each spoke to the importance of a morning routine.

This got me thinking, “if they believe waking up earlier in the morning and creating time for themselves is important AND they’re crushing it in their life then damnit, I should too!”

Plus, being postpartum and riding that hormonal roller coaster was freaking tough! So, why not give it a shot, what’s the worst that could happen? I then started digging in and doing a ton of research on hormone balance after baby, optimizing my gut health, and eliminating the ridiculous fatigue that plagued my body!

From there, I began to build it out and decided EVERY woman HAS to do this! I felt freaking fantastic within a few weeks of implementing a few basic steps.

So, I thought I would share them with you below!

Maintaining hormonal balance and a healthy metabolism are crucial for our overall wellbeing. One way to achieve this is through establishing healthy morning habits that set the tone for the rest of the day. In this article, I’m going to discuss my simple morning routine that includes a seven-step process that can help with hormonal balance and boosted metabolism.

  • Set the alarm back 20 minutes: Waking up early is essential for starting your day on the right foot. However, abruptly waking up to a blaring alarm can increase stress levels and negatively impact your cortisol levels, which play a role in regulating metabolism. By setting the alarm back 20 minutes earlier than usual, you allow yourself time to wake up gradually and begin the day in a relaxed state.
  • Consistency is key: Consistency is crucial when it comes to establishing a morning routine. Waking up at the same time every day and following a set routine helps regulate your body’s internal clock and hormone levels, contributing to overall hormonal balance and metabolism.
  • Wait to scroll social media: Reaching for your phone first thing in the morning to check social media or emails can be overwhelming and trigger stress responses in the body. Instead, wait until after completing your morning routine to check your phone.
  • Drink lemon water/hydrate: Drinking lemon water or other hydrating fluids first thing in the morning can help flush toxins from the body and improve digestion, which is crucial for maintaining a healthy metabolism. Additionally, adequate hydration is necessary for hormone regulation and overall health.
  • Eating a balanced meal focused on protein: Starting your day with a balanced meal that includes protein can help regulate blood sugar levels and keep you feeling full throughout the morning. This can prevent overeating later in the day and help maintain a healthy metabolism. Additionally, consuming protein in the morning can contribute to healthy hormone levels.

  • Meditation/mindfulness practices: Incorporating meditation or mindfulness practices into your morning routine can help reduce stress and improve overall hormone balance. Stress is a significant contributor to hormonal imbalances, and incorporating techniques to manage it can help support hormonal health and a healthy metabolism.

In conclusion, establishing a healthy morning routine can help with hormonal balance and a boosted metabolism. By incorporating practices such as setting the alarm back 20 minutes, avoiding hitting snooze, maintaining consistency, waiting to scroll social media, hydrating with lemon water or other fluids, eating a balanced meal focused on protein, and incorporating meditation/mindfulness practices, you can set the tone for a healthy and productive day. Remember, small changes can make a big difference, so start by implementing one habit at a time and watch as your hormonal balance and metabolism improve.
